Backblaze B2: a key for BackupWitness

List-only key

A list-only key needs the B2 command line tool; the web console offers read-only keys, which most likely include reading files.

Steps

  1. Create a key restricted to the bucket with only the listFiles capability:

    b2 key create --bucket YOUR-BUCKET [--name-prefix backups/] backupwitness listFiles
  2. Use the printed keyID as access key ID and the applicationKey as secret; it is shown once.

  3. Without the CLI: Application Keys, Add a New Application Key, Read Only, limited to the bucket. Expect that key to be able to read files too.

In the check form

Endpoint:
https://s3.<region>.backblazeb2.com
Region:
The region from the bucket endpoint, for example us-west-004.
  • The master application key does not work with the S3 API.
  • If the key has a name prefix, enter the same prefix (or a longer one) in the check.
